I thought I was so organised having made quite a few teacher presents already, but this week it dawned on me that I had totally forgotten my daughter's piano teacher! It's still Easter school holidays and we are down by the seaside - this is where we come during holidays and many weekends. It's a place to chill out from the hectic life in town and there seem to be more time for sewing - the light here is inspiring. And I love my sewing room!

How do I attach the binding???
This is the question presented to me almost daily. It is a good question, because a well made binding is the icing on the quilt, whereas a poorly made binding can let the whole quilt down...
There are an abundance of binding tutorials available over the Internet, so this is just my humble addition to the pool. Making the "zakka" pyramid pouch for my daughter was so much fun that I just had to make another one! We have a birthday party coming up and my daughter wanted to give a similar pouch to her friend who loves blue and yellow, hence the blue binding.
It's as pretty as the first one, but boy did I have trouble getting this one right.
It took three times more effort and time! The Chevron Quilt project is way behind!
Some progress was made last week, but it still needs some time spent on the piecing.
I like the look, so not sure why this is taking so long...maybe it's just the fact that there isn't a long enough time to sit down and get it done.
Too narrow - one more column needed!

It's that time of the year again - my daughter's school has a major dinner&dance fundraising evening every spring (this is the 3rd such event) to benefit the school building fund.
I've been really good, as so far my quilts have raised just under £15000, but this year I decided to make a smaller item. There was a pile of japanese 5" linen squares stashed away waiting for a special project...and then I came across this pyramid pencil case made by Elnorac. It was the perfect inspiration, although the size of mine is different.
The squares are 2" finished and there is 6 rows of 6 squares.
Time spent from start to finish approximately one hour!
Fun and quick!

It turned out better than expected and this size worked well for a throw - 24 x 12 inch blocks.
Nobody around to hold the quilt, so the tv had to do, hence a little wonky here!
Aqua stripes binding - it was a toss between this one and a black and white stripes.
First sun rays in a whole week, so had to quickly pin the quilt onto a Roman blind...like stained glass.
